There is a belief that when a person gets an inspiration on how to solve a problem, there are probably a thousand others scattered around the world that have gotten that same inspiration. Most times, however, only few get to work on their ideas. Some break through, others do not.
It is the few sets of breakthroughs that motivates others with the same idea to work on theirs or better still guide them on how to implement it. In Lieu of this, to better our world we need to harness as much as we can from the diverse versions of the 10,000 ideas with the help of that 1 breakthrough
Thus, TEDxUI call on the business person whose business grew into a multinational company, an artist who developed new arts through life experiences, the scientists who invented something big out of curiosity and many others who in their field had broken through with their ideas to come share with the 10,000 others who have not.
Anyone who is curious and is ready to learn, meet new people, be inspired or just does not want to be home on that day can attend
A little of this, a little of that and a little more of this and that, talks, fun, education, entertainment and yes good food too.
We have a set of speakers who have lived up their ideas and brought them forth to life and still living it. There might be a thing or two to learn from them.
See who is coming...

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x=independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized. TEDxUI is an independently organized event of TED in the premier university of Nigeria, University of Ibadan.
Born out of a passion to share, incubate and implement ideas that would stir quantum leaps in the contribution of youths to imoacting their communities, TEDxUI was founded. It launched on the 5th of August, 2017 and ever since then, it has been an instutitional force to reckon with in not just the Premier university of Ibadan, but in campuses around Nigeria and West Africa. TEDxUI has hosted two events so far TEDxUI themed "Abnormals" and TEDxUI Women, themed "Bridges". Till date, TEDxUI has impacted over 1,300 students on campus and is now looking forward to engaging the public with TED and creating opportunities for disruptive growth in neighbouring communities through spreading ideas and community engagement. TEDx program is designed to help communities, organizations and individuals.
TED is an annual event where some of the world’s leading thinkers and doers are invited to share what they are most passionate about. “TED” stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design — three broad subject areas that are, collectively, shaping our future. And in fact, the event is broader still, showcasing ideas that matter in any discipline. Attendees have called it “the ultimate brain spa” and “a four-day journey into the future.” The diverse audience — CEOs, scientists, creatives, philanthropists — is almost as extraordinary as the speakers, who have included Bill Clinton, Bill Gates, Jane Goodall, Frank Gehry, Paul Simon, Sir Richard Branson, Philippe Starck and Bono. TED was first held in Monterey, California, in 1984. In 2001, Chris Anderson’s Sapling Foundation acquired TED from its founder, Richard Saul Wurman. In recent years, TED has expanded to include an international conference, TEDGlobal; media initiatives, including TED Talks and TED.com; and the TED Prize. TED2010, “What the world Needs Now,” will be held Feb 9-13, 2010, in Long Beach, California, with a simulcast event in Palm Springs, California. TEDGlobal 2009, “The Substance of Things Not Seen,” will be held July 21-24, 2009, in Oxford, UK and TEDIndia will be held in November 2009.
TED's Mission is to Spread Ideas. TED is global community, welcoming people from every discipline and culture who seek a deeper understanding of the World. We believe passionately in the power of ideas to change attitudes, lives and ultimately the world. On TED.com,we're building a clearing house of free knowledge from the world's most inspired thinkers - and a community of curious souls to engage with ideas and each other, both online and at TED and TEDx events around the world, all year long.
Everything we do from our Conferences to our TED Talks to the projects sparked by the TED prize, from the global TEDx community to the TED-Ed Lesson series is driven by this goal: How can we best spread great ideas?
We believe that when the 10,000 meets 1, we are consciously building better and inclusive communities.
